Для проекта «Медвежий патруль» крайне важна информация о белых медведях, поступаемся с пос. Диксон. Около этого районного центра (единственного населенного пункта на многие сотни километров арктического побережья) ежегодно отмечается браконьерский отстрел белых медведей. В 2008 в «Медвежий патруль» стала поступать важная информация – около Медвежьих островов (в 7 км от поселка) появился первый в этом году медведь. Медвежий патруль будет наращивать свое присутствие в этом регионе.

Information from Dikson

Information about polar bears from the area of Dikson settlement is especially important for the Polar Bear Patrol project. Dikson is the only settlement in a vast arctic coastal region, and it is known as the area where poachers annually kill polar bears. In this year the Polar Bear Patrol has established important contact in Dikson and has started to get information about polar bears – the first polar bear of the year 2008 has appeared on Medvezhyi (bear) islands about 7 km west of the settlement. The Polar Bear Patrol is going to expand its activity in the area.
