«Счастливое море» или «Soariake» такое название придумали рыбаки для своей местной ассоциации, которая совместно с WWF работает над созданием общих для всех рыбацких поселков правил вылова. Жизнь местных жителей зависти от моря, так как сухой климат и скудные почвы не могут прокормить большие семьи. Ребята в деревушках начинают рыбачить с 14 лет; каждое утро с рассветом, в море уходит множество пирог под разноцветными парусами.
Было забавно рассказывать здесь об арктических проектах (днем жара за 30!), о жизни белых медведей и моржей, но оказывается в нашей работе много общего – мы тоже стараемся создать в российской Арктике работающую сеть наблюдателей из местных жителей сел, чтобы совместно наладить охрану прибрежной природы.
Местные жители проживают в легких небольших домиках, и я предложил региональному офису WWF cделать здесь визит центр, используя традиционные материалы – камень и солому, где будет можно рассказать людям о ценностях морских экосистем. Нужно оснастить экспозицию наглядными красочными плакатами (не все взрослые умеют читать) и экологическими играми для детей, а содержание помещения передать местной администрации – пусть собираются здесь, обсуждают свои проблемы, а местные женщины могут продать туристам свои поделки. У нас в России в регионах есть опыт организации таких небольших центров: «панда-чум», «панда-юрта», а местные эксперты подсказали название «Трано-панда» (трано – малагашский соломенный домик). Пусть и поселится Трано-панда на берегу счастливого моря… |

«Happy Sea» or «Soariake» in local language this is a name of new association which the fishermen established with the support of the WWF. The idea of the meeting is create new rules for sustainable fish harvest. The life of the locals is fully depends on the sea resources because the dry climate and poor soil couldn’t give enough food for the big families. The kids in the settlements start to work as fisherman when they became 14 and every morning many local boats (pirogs) with the many-coloured sails are leaving the village for fishing…
It was funny to tell to locals about our projects in the Arctic (the noon temperature here is up 30C) and about the life of polar bears and walruses, but in fact there are many common problems here and in the Arctic – we also try to establish effective network of observers from the local people in order to save the nature together.
The local residents of the settlement are living in the small and light cabins. I have proposed to the WWF’s regional office to establish here a small visit center and use traditional local material – stone and straw for the building. In this center we could explain to people how important the marine ecosystems are for their life. We need to have in the centre good and simple information placates (because some of the people just can’t read) and ecological games for the kids. The village administration has to take care about this building in future and pay the running coast. The administration could use it for their own meetings and local women could sell for tourist the handicrafts and souvenirs. We have in the WWF Russia some experience for establishing a local visit centers in regions, like “panda yurta” or “panda wigwam”. The local experts proposed the name “trano panda” (trano – small house from the straw in Madagascar). So, I wish to “trano panda” long life near by the “happy sea”… |
