Информация об одиноком медвежонке пришла в чукотское оленеводческое село Айон 27 марта. В 8 км к востоку от острова недалеко от зимника на г. Певек водитель заметил возле дороги одинокого медвежонка. Мамы по близости нигде не было видно. К месту, где видели медвежонка отправились на машине глава администрации Олег Лобов и местный участковый капитан милиции Александр Предыбайло, который неоднократно принимал участие в рейдах медвежьего патруля. Но медвежонка на месте не оказалось, наверное спрятался где-нибудь в торосах. Пришлось еще раз вернуться сюда же уже на буранах, прихватив лайку Айон, которая и обнаружила малыша метрах в 200 от дороги. Медвежонок боялся собаки и шипел на нее. Он был почти без сил, дрожал, было видно, что он давно не ел. Только на руках малыш немного успокоился.

On March 27 a truck driver arrived to the village of Aion told people about small lonely polar bear cub that he noticed about 8 km east of the island just near the ice road to the Pevek town. Head of the village administration Oleg Lobov and officer of district police Aleksandr Predybailo, who many times assisted the Polar Bear Patrol of the village, drove to the place where the cub was sighted. However they could not find the cub that apparently lost in hummocks. The people had to drive back to the village, take a dog and return to the place by snowmobiles. The dog found the cub about 200 m away from the road. Baby bear was afraid of the dog and hissed to it. The cub was exhausted, hungry, and trembled with fear. Only being taken in arms the baby bear calmed. At the beginning it was kept in Aleksander’s apartments and fed by baby formulas. Next day Boris Papalgin - one of the Aion Polar Bear Patrol members, tried to find the cub’s mother.
